Blog and pages

Blog listing

Blog is the template behind /blogs/news. Set articles per page, desktop columns, and whether cards show the image, author, excerpt and comment count.

Excerpts come from the article’s Excerpt field in your admin. Leave it empty and the theme falls back to the start of the article body, which is usually worse copy than one sentence you wrote on purpose.

Tag filtering

Tags on articles produce filtered views at /blogs/news/tagged/<tag> automatically. The listing shows which tag is active and a Clear link back to everything. There is no setting — tag an article and it works.

Article

Article controls the article page: breadcrumbs, featured image, author, tags, and previous/next navigation.

The featured image is loaded at high priority because it is the largest thing above the fold. Size it accordingly.

Comments

Comments are a Shopify setting, not a theme one. In your admin:

Content → Blog posts → Manage blogs → pick the blog → Comments, and choose:

Option What happens
Disabled The theme shows no comment section at all
Moderated Comments are held for your approval. The form tells the customer their comment will be reviewed
Automatically published Comments appear immediately

Moderated is the right default. An unmoderated comment form on a new store collects spam within days, and the theme cannot filter it.

Approve comments in Content → Comments. Once approved they appear under the article, paginated, with a count.

One thing that trips people up: you cannot post a comment while the store is password-protected. The password gate blocks the form submission, not just the page. Test comments after removing the password, or on a published store.

Pages

Page renders a page’s content with the theme’s typography — headings, lists, links and images from Shopify’s rich text editor all carry the theme’s styling with no configuration.

For a page that needs more than prose, build it in the theme editor instead: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Pages → create a template and add sections. That is how to make an About page with a hero, a timeline and an FAQ.

Contact form

Add the Contact form section to any page. It sends to the address in Settings → Store details → Sender email, which is worth checking before you rely on it — the default is often an address nobody reads.

You choose the heading, subtext, whether to ask for a phone number, the button label, whether the form is narrow, and its alignment.

Successful submissions show a confirmation in place of the form; errors are listed above the fields with the invalid field marked, so a customer is never left guessing which one Shopify rejected.

404

Not found has no settings by design — it offers a way back and a search field, which is all a 404 should do.
